Janus Development Group markets a fluency-enhancing device that dramatically improves the speaking ability of people who stutter. The device was invented by researchers at East Carolina University, and is sold through speech pathologists, who also provide the therapy recommended to get the most out of the SpeechEasy.

Eye Integrated determined that the speech pathologists who sold the device were too few and too far apart, resulting in a distribution network that wasn’t able to service the existing market. People who needed the SpeechEasy weren’t able to get them because the devices weren’t sold in their area or they simply didn’t know the devices existed.

The solution was obvious: in order to expand the reach of the SpeechEasy, we would work with Janus Development to expand their current sales network.

Working directly with Alan Newton, the president of Janus Development, Eye Integrated created a revised marketing strategy to focus most of their advertising efforts on recruiting additional speech pathologists to sell the SpeechEasy.

We started by creating entirely new communication materials, designed to educate speech pathologists about how the SpeechEasy was an effective tool that could have an extraordinary effect on their patient’s lives. Though the new materials still provided the technical details that doctors would look for, we highlighted the remarkable personal changes that their patients could achieve with the SpeechEasy device.

The second key element was increasing the interaction between the speech pathologists and Janus Development. With the addition of several new regional sales representatives, Janus was able to not only recruit new speech pathologists, but also personally support their ongoing needs.

Finally, we knew that marketing just to doctors was only part of the solution. To maximize the SpeechEasy’s reach, Janus Development would need to raise awareness of the device among the people who stutter themselves. Because it would be difficult to reach this group of people through traditional media, a new effort was made to attract visitors to the company’s website.

By asking the right questions, truly understanding our client’s needs, and developing new communications materials, Eye Integrated was able to collaborate successfully with Janus Development and realize the project to everyone’s satisfaction. More importantly, after working with Eye Integrated, Janus Development was able to expand their marketing network and increase their ability to bring the SpeechEasy device to the people who need it.
